Kyrgyzhydromet is forecasting a wider spread of rain and thunderstorms today, with wet weather now reaching Chuy, Talas, Issyk-Kul and Naryn regions as well as the mountain zones of the south. Meanwhile Osh, Jalal-Abad and Batken stay locked in extreme heat at up to +39°C.
Storm Zone Grows to Cover the North and West
After yesterday's storms were mostly confined to the eastern half of the country, forecasters now expect showers and thunderstorms in Talas region as well, joining Chuy, Naryn and Issyk-Kul. Bishkek stays largely dry but slightly cooler than earlier in the week, with a high near +35°C.
South Still Locked in Extreme Heat
The south of the country sees no relief: Osh, Jalal-Abad and Batken all hold at up to +39°C during the day, with mountain and foothill zones there also at risk of afternoon thunderstorms.
Naryn and Issyk-Kul Remain Coolest
Naryn stays the coolest region at +27°C, while Issyk-Kul is similar at +27°C after a mild overnight low of +17°C.
